Audience profiles

This is the reader profile of a man who would be likely to read my magazine:

Naz, my friend, is everything that I would expect my reader to be. He's between the ages 16-30 - close to the median age of 26. He's male, and from our competitors sales, we can see they are more likely to purchase indie pop magazines. He's also currently in University and, again, competitors sales show us that a high percentage of readers have reached full education. He's also ABC1 profile and, therefore, has disposable income. His traits match those of an indie-pop fan and he's a fan.
I would expect Naz to take an interest in my magazine.

This is the reader profile of a woman who would not be likely to read my magazine:

Rita, my grandmother, is everything that I would expect my reader NOT to be. She's incredibly out of my target age range and 47 years away from the median age. She's female, and from our competitors sales, we can see they are less likely to purchase indie pop magazines. She did not attend university and received a low level of education, again, competitors sales show us that a high percentage of readers have reached full education. Because she's a state pensioner, she is not as likely as Naz to have disposable income. Her traits parallel those of an indie-pop fan and she is not likely to enjoy the music.
I would not expect Rita to take an interest in my magazine.

This has, once more, allowed me to fully visualise my target audience. I have focused on features that are relevant to my T.A and now can focus on those features. Getting to know my target audience allows me to tailor a magazine towards them easier and better.
